Sharmaine Dobson is a dynamic leader born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, with a rich background in ministry, theology, and mental health. She holds an honorary Doctor of Divinity for her dedication to ministry, along with a master’s degree in Christian counselling, a bachelor’s degree in theology, and a diploma in social work.
In Christchurch, New Zealand, Sharmaine serves as a clinical supervisor, blending her theological insights with mental health expertise. She is also an accomplished author, poet, and lyricist, having published five books and written the well-known song “Let the Rain Fall.”
Her primary calling is to bring order and restoration to the Church, equipping the Body of Christ to fulfill its mission according to Ephesians 4. Sharmaine is actively involved as an itinerant minister and is affiliated with the Ministers Co-op in Australia.
She founded Women for the Nations, a platform dedicated to empowering women worldwide. As the co-senior minister of Abundant Life Ministries International in Christchurch, she shares leadership with her husband of 41 years, George Dobson. Together, they have raised two children and are blessed with four grandchildren.
